January 11 COVID Update: With 189 cases, Cachar among high case load districts

Please note at the very beginning, due to lack of clarity in the data provided by District Health Department, we are reporting from the bulletin of National Health Mission.

According to the bulletin released by NHM Assam, Cachar reported 189 cases on January 11 to become the district with third highest cases in Assam. Kamrup Metro reported 870 cases while Jorhat reported 215 cases.

In Cachar, 25 individuals have tested positive on RT-PCR while 164 samples tested positive on the Rapid Antigen Kit. Cases are rising in other two districts of Barak Valley too.

In Karimganj district, 85 individuals tested positive for COVID 19 while in Hailakandi, the number went up to 110.

Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that 35 patients are admitted to the COVID wards of the SMCH. Two patients are in ventilator and six are on oxygen support. Dr Gupta added that in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on January 11, SMCH did not report any death.

For those who want to go by the data handed over Cachar Health Department, 269 individuals have tested positive for COVID 19. This is a data set collated between 12:00 noon January 10 and 12:00 noon January 11.

Cachar Health Department shared that 106 individuals have tested positive on RT-PCR and 163 on Rapid Antigen Test kits.
