Silchar MLA leads human chain to demonstrate how dividers can help in mitigating traffic jam

Bharatiya Janata Party workers today demonstrated a human chain in city’s Ambicapatty, Church Road and Chowrangee area to tackle the ever increasing issue of traffic jam and congestion in Silchar. The human chain was led by Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakrabory. Excessive congestion of motor vehicles and traffic jam has become part and parcel of the city life of Silchar. Daily commuters face the wrath of traffic jam every now and then, even the auto owners are severely affected by the traffic jam, as it consumes their time and fuel.

The number of vehicle in Silchar is rising with each passing day, now the E-Rickshaws are also dominating the narrow streets of Silchar, the issue of parking comes over the top of the traffic jam, as the city doesn’t have any specific space allotted to parking and people park their car, bikes on the road which only deteriorate the congestion in city.

MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said that ever since he became the MLA, he is actively looking after the issue of traffic jam. “We have been noticing the intensity of traffic jam in the town, valuable times of commuters is wasted in jam. I, along with our MP and my party has been actively discussing the issue of traffic jam, we even given our proposal to the SP Silchar, but no solution has been synthesised yet. So this human change was a demonstration of how we could minimize the jam in the city.” The human chain demonstrated a divider and MLA Dipayan Chakraborty opined that it was done to showcase how a divider can do a world of good in controlling the jam. PWD Executive Engineer, Executive Officer of Silchar Municipality Board were also present during the demonstration.

MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said. “The footpaths are above the level of the road, we have urged the authority to adjust the level of footpath and road so that the vehicles get some space while stuck in jam. All he road were constructed unplanned, there are many illegal encroachments on the road too, so we will work with plan to mitigate the jam issue,” MLA added.
