Thunderstorm and lightning to continue in Barak Valley up to 11 PM today, Yellow zone warning issued by IMD

IMD Guwahati has issued a forecast for Thunderstorms and Lightning accompanied by gusty wind and light to moderate rain, which will likely occur at a few places over Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj. The warning, issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority at 8 PM on Sunday read the above weather conditions will follow for the next three hours.

As per the Districtwise Weather Warning for Assam by IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati, the weather conditions over the three districts of Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj will likely be in the yellow alert zone for the next three days. The bulletin read “Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind with speed 40 to 50 KMPH very likely at isolated places” in Hailakandi and Karimganj on April 21 and 22, followed by “Thunderstorm with lightning very likely at isolated places” on April 23 and 24.

While in Cachar, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain are very likely in isolated places and will continue from April 21 till April 24. Yellow zone alert as per IMD means, “WATCH (Be Updated)”.

The temperature range in Cachar in the next days will vary between a high of 33 and a low of 21. As per the information available from the forecast, the weather conditions are likely to improve after April 24, that is Wednesday. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority has issued this bulletin in the public interest.
