Leasing rooms for antisocial activities; Cachar Police busts sex racket in Silchar

In a shocking revelation, the Rangirkhari Police has busted a sex racket today at a residence in Bashudev Nagar Lane near National Highway point in Silchar. 

The miscreants, primarily illegitimate couples, were found indulging in anti-social and inappropriate acts inside the house when the police arrived at their door based on a tip-off.

During this raid, four people were arrested along with the female culprits including the land lady, and have been taken into custody for running a sex racket.

The detained two male culprits were Abu Bakr Majumder, aged 23 from Banskandi and Rohan Choudhury of Baghpur of the Cachar district. The name of the female culprit is Reksona Begum Barbhuiya who belongs from the Kachudaram area under the Cachar district.

The fourth detained person is the owner of the house Suma Rani Deb, where the illicit inappropriate activities used to take place quite frequently according to some neighbours.

The neighbours also suggested that this kind of illicit activity have been going on for more than a year now. The landlady Suma Rani Deb lives with her husband and they together have a daughter and a son.

“Every day, we see hordes of people coming visiting and leaving this house in intervals starting from as early as 5 in the morning. And every day we see a new face, and often there happen consumption of liquor inside the house after which we reckon they go about their business for which they come here so frequently. Even today just minutes before the arrival of police, at least 10-12 people ran away from the back exit which connects to the National Highway point bazaar that’s why the police could nab only 4-5 of them. Our society committee of Bashudev Nagar lane in the past have raised this issue on many occasions and also asked them to put a stop to such inappropriate activities and business, but they turned a deaf ear to that. On the contrary, the owner of the house abused many of our neighbours in the past”, said one of the neighbours who were present at the scene when police arrived.

The neighbours also requested the district administration to look into this matter seriously and to put an end to such inappropriate rackets that are corrupting society.
