Meet Adrita Chakraborty from Silchar, the first runner-up of India Next Top Diva 2019

Glitz, glamour, grandeur — these words have always been very special to her. Right from childhood, modelling was in her heart and soul and today she feels she has made the first stride towards her dream of becoming one of the top actresses in Bollywood.

She is Adrita Chakraborty from Silchar, who has bagged the first runner-up title (Miss category) in India Next Top Diva, 2019. The pageant contest was organised by The Royal Affair at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkhowa in Guwahati on April 25.

Adrita, who is pursuing her graduation from Gurucharan College in Silchar, had participated in a local pageant show “Sharad Nandini” in 2015 and clinched the “best figure” sub-title. An avid sports-lover, she is a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sachin Tendulkar.

In an interaction with Barak Bulletin, the talented model shared her experiences of the contest and other related aspects. Here are the excerpts:

BB – How did you think of participating in India Next Top Diva? Tell us about your experience in the contest.

Adrita – I have always been very passionate about modelling and I regularly look for opportunities to showcase my talent and get recognition. This was the main reason behind my participation in India Next Top Diva, 2019. I thank The Royal Affair for giving me this opportunity.

Coming to experience, it was quite good as I got the much-needed exposure in the field of modelling and learnt a lot about different aspects of the glamour industry. The experience boosted my confidence and I am now looking forward to taking part in more such events.

BB – Do you want to take up modelling as a career option? Who is your inspiration?

Ans- Yes, I want to take up modelling as a career option. This is a profession which has always inspired me a lot.
Sushmita Sen is my true inspiration. She is smart, beautiful and such a down-to-earth person. I love the way she is and aspire to be like her someday.

BB – Crimes against women, especially rapes, has seen a substantial rise in India over the past few years. What do you think is the major reason behind this? Do you think capital punishment in cases of rapes will help to reduce such crimes?

Ans- Sex education is still accepted as a matter of hesitation in India. I feel the reason behind this is the lack of openness while speaking about the issue. Campaigning and self-awareness programme should be conducted to educate Indian people so that they should never think of committing such crimes. Yes, capital punishment will certainly help in reducing the crime as it will bound people will think a thousand times before committing such crimes.

BB – “Sex before marriage” is still considered as a taboo in Indian society. What’s your viewpoint on this?

Adrita – In my opinion, this should not be considered as a taboo. People should be made aware of sex education and its different aspects. I believe, the mindset of people in our society will change in the days ahead and premarital sex will be considered as a normal thing like in many foreign countries.

BB – If given a choice to lead the life of any celebrity, who would you like to be and why?

Adrita – I would like to lead the life of Urvashi Rautela. She is one of the extremely talented and hardworking actresses in Bollywood and she inspires me a lot.

BB – What are your future plans? Where do you want to see yourself in the next five years?

Adrita – Starting my career as a model and gradually embarking on the field of acting is my plan in the future. After five years, I would like to see myself as an actress in Bollywood.
