Congress unveils manifesto, promises to revive Paper Mills, rename Silchar station, guarantees pension for language martyrs

The Congress party has unveiled its manifesto for Assam. Today party’s general secretary incharge Rahul Gandhi alongwith Pradesh Congress incharge Ripun Bora, Assam Incharge Jitendra Singh and other senior leaders held a press conference in Guwahati and unveiled the manifesto.

Rahul Gandhi said, “This is a manifesto that has the voice of Assam. It is a manifesto of the state and this has been made after discussion with people of all stratas.”

Gandhi added, “This manifesto not only provides five guarantees but also guarantees to save the essence of Assam which has been attacked constantly by the BJP and the RSS.”

The manifesto is detailed with dedicated chapters on multiple issues. While revealing the highlights through a presentation, it was mentioned that female transportation in public transport will be made free. Tourism will be boasted.

What came a massive announcement in the manifesto is that, “Congress will take measures to revive Panchgram and Jagi Road paper mills.” The Mills are defunct and the employees have not got their wages for more than 48 months.

In the manifesto it is also mentioned that family members of the martyrs of “CAA Andolon”, “Bhasha Andolon” will get pension. If Congress forms government in Assam, according to the manifesto, Silchar Railway Station will be renamed as Bhasha Sahid Station.

After unveiling the manifesto, Rahul Gandhi warned voters “BJP will privatise strategic assets of the Assamese people.” He asserted, “We guarantee that we will not sell Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Modi ji’s friend. We will safeguard the essence of Assam.”

When asked how Congress will provide the jobs mentioned in the manifesto, Gandhi could not provide a logical answer. Rather he dodged by saying, “When we do something here (in the manifesto) we do the math behind the scenes.”
