Assam University's Dipasha Sengupta takes a step towards regaining her eyesight; First operation successful  

The first hurdle has been passed well. Assam University Silchar student Dipasha Sengupta went under the scalp today at Shankardev Netralaya in Guwahati. The doctors in the hospital said she has been responding to the treatment and they are hopeful that she will get her eyesight back.

On March 11, 2020, Dipasha Sengupta along with three other fellow students were performing an experiment in the Chemistry lab at the University premises. All of a sudden, the test-tube blasted and chemicals splashed on them. Dipasha got hurt the most and was then rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors referred her to Shankardeva Nethralaya in Guwahati.

“On Tuesday, she is scheduled to undergo another surgery. We are in touch with the family and are very happy to learn that the operation went well,” said Aritra Babai Dhar, GS, Assam University Students’ Union.

Silchar MLA, Dilip Paul went to see Dipasha at the hospital today and posted on his official Facebook page, “Dipasha Sengupta’s first operation was successful and now she is doing fine. Pray for her speedy recovery.”

The MSc – Chemistry student is explained as a fighter by her classmates. The GS of the students’ union had uploaded on his Facebook that she was repeatedly asking her mother if she will be able to study again. As she fights to regain her eyesight in Guwahati there are hundreds praying for her speedy recovery. All eyes are on Tuesday now.
