Dead bodies of an alleged couple found hanging on a tree in Silchar

Astonishing news coming in from a tea estate in Udharbond, Silchar. A couple, allegedly in love, was found hanging on a tree in the wee hours today. As per available information, the incident took place in Digun Tea Estate in Udharbond. The two dead have been identified as 15-year-old, Bibek Bhumiz and 14-year-old Kalpana Bhumiz. Bibek is a resident of Digun Tea Estate while Kalpana’s residence is in Harinagar – Filepunji.

Family members confirmed that Bibek and Kalpana were in an affair. Kalpana is Bibek’s uncle’s sister-in-law and they had known each other since his uncle’s wedding. On Sunday, Bibek visited Kalpana’s house and allegedly fled with her. Bibek’s family, on the other hand, said they were unaware of any such developments. Today morning, Bibek’s family members spotted two bodies hanging on a tree located next to their house. When they rushed to the spot they found the duo to be Bibek and Kalpana.

Police officials reached the spot and recovered the dead bodies. While a section of the local residents believe they have committed suicide, it remains a mystery if both committed suicide or one murdered the other and then killed him/herself. The police are also investigating whether the families had any hand in their death. The tragic incident has brought a sense of shock in Digun Tea Estate among the tea tribes. An affair or not, the fact is that two minors lost their lives.
