Fatal road accident kills 21 year old at Silchar-Imphal Highway

A somber incident unfolded at the Silchar-Imphal National Highway, specifically in the Lalang area of Cachar, falling under the jurisdiction of the Lakhipur Police Station. A youthful motorcyclist met a tragic end following a collision with a passenger cruiser, leaving the public shaken.

This morning, around 10:30 am, a passenger cruiser with registration number AS11DC 5426 collided with a Bajaj Pulsar 150 motorcycle bearing registration number AS11G 3475. The cruiser was en route to Silchar from Fulertal when the unfortunate incident occurred. As per reports, the collision propelled both the motorcycle and its rider beneath the cruiser. As per the statements of the eyewitnesses the cruiser reportedly dragged the motorcycle along the road for several meters before finally coming to a halt.

Concerned bystanders acted swiftly to move the injured motorcyclist, identified as Abdul Aziz, a 21-year-old man from Lalang Part 1, from beneath the cruiser. Aziz, critically injured, was rushed to Emmanuel Hospital situated in Pailapool for immediate medical attention.

Despite the medical team’s immediate actions upon his arrival at the hospital, Aziz’s injuries proved fatal. He was pronounced dead shortly after reaching the medical facility.

The driver of the cruiser fled the scene following the accident, leaving behind a scene marked by tragedy. Local authorities from the Lakhipur Police Station responded promptly, securing the area and arranging for the removal of both vehicles for further investigation.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to transfer the deceased’s body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations. This heart-wrenching incident underscores the inherent dangers of the road and the critical importance of road safety measures.
