Hajj pilgrim Jamaluddin passes away in Mecca

A Hajj pilgrimage is a dream-true moment for most Muslims. A visit to the seven seas far, holy ground of Mecca, is said to bring one closest to the Almighty Allah. It is also considered as one of the most sacred deeds of ones life. All pilgrims wear the simple two piece clothing ihram while doing the rituals. It proves that one is equal in Allah’s eyes. It’s also said when a Muslim wears his ihram, it is as if he wears his own Kafan!

And seems like something similar happned with Hailakandi’s Lala area’s Jamaluddin Chowdhury. In order to fulfil his dreams, he travelled for Hajj to Mecca, and that ended up being his last journey.

The 61-year-old started feeling ill and lost consciousness on Saturday. He was then immediately rushed to the Azizia hospital in Mecca. On Sunday, IST 4:05 pm, Chowdhury breathed his last at the hospital.

Joint secretary of district Hajj Committee Abdul Hafiz Hussain Majharbhuiyaa immediately went to Chowdhury’s resident to give his condolences to the family. The joint secretary also met deputy commissioner Adil Khan to discuss the road ahead. Khan sent an affidavit urging the Saudi government to conduct Chowdhury’s funeral in Mecca itself.

Chowdhury is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. May his soul rest in peace.
