Assam Government issues notification for the release of wages of tutors of Upper and Lower Primary schools

The Government of Assam has announced today through a notification that it has submitted a proposal for the release of wages to the tutors of both Upper Primary and Lower Primary schools including the accommodation of the illegal group of teachers.

The notification issued by the government’s Finance Department mentions that the proposal submitted by the Education (Elementary) Department, after proper verification of all the provincialised tutors across both the Upper and Lower Primary schools, asked for the release of wages of tutors of 6,472 in Upper Primary and 3,219 in Lower Primary schools.

The proposal also asked for the accommodation of illegal groups of tutors’ wages of 420 in Upper Primary and 1,024 in Lower Primary schools.

The order was issued to the respective D.D.Os and the Treasury Officer, their concerned D.D.Os and the Treasury Officers, to release the first wages to these tutors whose services were provincialised by the Finance Department under the provision of the ‘Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Re-organization of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017’ as amended in 2018 and as accommodated the illegally/irregularly appointed teachers by the Finance Department with certain conditions. The order had the due approval of the Finance Minister of Assam.

It is noteworthy to mention that a few months back, the Finance Department of Assam had provincialised the services of 6,483 tutors in Upper Primary and 3,309 tutors in Lower Primary Schools. In case of accommodation of illegal groups of teachers, 2,168 tutors in Lower Primary and 635 tutors in Upper Primary Schools were provincialised by the Finance Department.
