Electrical shop owner commits suicide; body found hanging

Bikash Ranjan Chakraborty, owner of Sudha Enterprise, an electronic equipment shop committed suicide this morning. His body was found earlier this morning hanging at his shop in Rangikhari.

A resident of Netaji Pally, Rangirkhari, Chakraborty was a retired ONGC employee. Rangirkhari Police rushed to the shop immediately after receiving the news. In the presence of Magistrate, the dead body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Salesman Rajat, who used to assist Bikash everyday at the shop, reached a little late today. Adressing the media, he said, “I received a call from him (Chakraborty) at around 8.30 in the morning to know whether I was coming to shop today? I told him I will be a a little late for some personal reasons.”

As per Rajat, he reached the shop at 11 am and entered the room where the owner used to sit. He shared that upon entering the room he was shocked to see his employer hanging dead.

Though dumbfound, Rajat immediately reached out Chakraborty’d family and informed his wife, brother-in-law and other family members.

The reason for his suicide is not yet known and the case is under the investigation of Rangiraki Police.
