Introducing Ningting; A platform made for schools and colleges to go online

The schools and colleges are still very much dependent on Online classes. The outbreak of the Coronavirus-induced pandemic has disrupted the entire academic culture. Most of the students, especially those in higher classes are dependent on smartphones for their dose of knowledge.

In such a scenario, all the schools and colleges are forced to develop their own apps. Silchar-based developer Gaisin Kabui has developed an android platform, ‘Ningting’ through which the schools and colleges can have their own apps without an expensive developer and the hassle of hosting.

The platform has been developed keeping the necessities of schools and colleges at the heart of it. Gaisin Kabui explains how Ningting can help Schools and Colleges and make the administration’s life easy.

Here are the edited excerpts:

Why did you decide to develop this platform?

‘Ningting’ means wisdom. The motive behind launching this platform is to help schools and colleges have apps that are of a high standard. The android platform is like an app for the apps. It is a user-friendly interface with well-defined roles for admins and teachers.

If a school or college uses your platform, how will it be their app?

Ningting will remain at the backend. The students and guardians will go to the google play store and search for the app. For example, Grace English School is using Ningting. The students and guardians will need to search Grace English in the play store. The app will have the school’s logo and it will look like the school’s app. The app will be in the name of the institution.

Can you talk about the feature of this platform?

First of all, we take care of development and maintainance. The schools and colleges do not need to think about technology. They don’t need to hire or contract engineers or developers. That is the first feature I would like to highlight. Then the app developed by us through Ningting will have Noticeboard where unlimited attachments can be uploaded. Students can simply download pdf/docs from the noticeboard. There is a teacher board for the teachers to upload their notes and instructions. Then there is an album-based gallery where an unlimited number of images can be uploaded. There is an exam pannel through which multi-choice questions can be uploaded and exams can be conducted in a safe and secure manner. There is a homework panel where students can upload their homework and then teachers can evaluate it.

But for large schools and colleges with many classes and sections, won’t it be a mess while everything gets uploaded in one place?

No, we have focussed on segmentation the platform is developed in a manner that there won’t be any clutter whatsoever. So each time the admins and teachers upload anything in the app, there will be an option to select for whom this information is for. For example, the administration decides to organise an extra class for 10th standard. They will upload the notice in the noticeboard and select class 10 and all sections. So, only Class 10 students will get access to it. Similarly, when teachers upload notes they can categorise which class this is for, and only students of this particular class will be able to access the information.

How will you ensure security and privacy?

The schools or colleges will have to send us the name and phone numbers of students. We will use the list to create user-ids and passwords, unique for all students. The students will have to use that user-id and password to log in. So, it is an entirely secure interface that protects the privacy of both students and institutions.
