Poisoned by maid, retired SBI Officer Arabinda Bhadra regained consciousness; wife still critical

Retired SBI Officer Arabinda Bhadra and his wife were found lying unconscious in their room yesterday morning. Doctors in Silchar Medical College and Hospital confirmed that they were poisoned. Both were admitted in critical condition, however, the medical team managed to drain out the poison from Arabinda Bhadra and he has regained his consciousness.

A visitor who went to see them in the morning said that Bhadra could walk, however, he does not recollect what exactly happened to them. On the other hand, his wife, who is also suffering from high BP is still unconscious.

It has been learnt that Bhadra and his wife live alone in their Ambicapatty residence as their only daughter has shifted to the United Kingdom. They had appointed the alleged house-help on September 13, 2019. “A nearby Pan shop owner recommended the maidservant to the Bhadras. Apparently, she worked at a house in Tarapur for decades,” said a family source.

It has also been learnt that the bangles, wedding ring and other gold ornaments that Arabinda Bhadra’s wife was wearing are all missing. The neighbours found wardrobes in the house wide open, while the maid is still missing.

The police said that it would be extremely difficult for them to estimate what all are stolen unless the Bhadras regain their senses.
