Public School Road resident jumped into Barak from Sadarghat bridge; rescued by locals

Today morning a 45-year-old was spotted climbing the railing of Sadarghat Bridge. Within moments, he dived into the river. Locals started a hue and cry and few on the bank started swimming towards the man.

According to eyewitnesses, the man started floating within seconds after he jumped. “We were astonished to see that he had started to swim. Meanwhile, the locals also started swimming towards him and eventually managed to rescue him alive. Maybe he changed his mind while mid-air,” said an eyewitness.

Ananda Medhi, in-charge of Malugram Outpost informed that the individual who jumped into the river has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a checkup. “What we got to know is that he himself swam to the shore. The family members went to the spot and the Police are investigating the matter,” said Medhi.

The 45-year-old is a resident of the Public School Road area in Silchar and is apparently, is under financial stress.
