Third Annual Badminton Championship of Lakhipur DSA held in four categories concludes after prize distribution ceremony

The third annual Badminton Championship conducted by Lakhipur District Sports Association in collaboration with Poilapool Emmanuel English High School which was held from 4th January to 7th January ended on Saturday.

Sudeep Kumar Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cachar District cum Sub-Divisional Officer of Lakhipur Sub-Division; Director of Silchar Cancer Hospital, Padmashri Dr. Ravi Kannan and his wife Sita Kannan; Superintendent of Alipore Hospital, Dr. Jyotsuya Victor; General Secretary of Lakhipur DSA, Debabrata Paul; Teachers Sarat Kumar Singh, Biswajit Singh; Principal of Emmanuel English High School, Uriri Singha among others were present at the prize distribution ceremony after the final match.

In the Badminton Championship there were four categories – Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Men’s Doubles. Bonip Singha and Arnab Nath won the Men’s Doubles while Amrit Kanta Singha became the runner’s up. Sonakshi Singha won the Under 13 Girl’s Singles while Arati Singha became the runner’s up.

Sonakshi Singha also won the under 15 Girl’s Singles while TH Sanjita Singha became the runner’s up. Sonakshi Singha again won the Under 17 Girl’s Singles bagging three troohies while Binota Singha became the runner’s up. In the Under 13 Men’s Singles, Yaipaba Singha became the winner while Shujusa Basumtary became the runner’s up.

In the Under 15 Men’s Singles, N Esteven Raj became the winner while TH Sanju Singha became the runner’s up. In the Under 17 Men’s Singles, TH Kamaljit Singha became the winner while N Esteven Raj became the runner’s up. Alongwith the entry fees collected from the badminton tournament, the teachers and students of Emmanuel English High School donated some food items to the cancer patients of Silchar Cancer Hospital. Sejal Singha, Vice Principal of Emmanuel English High School, gave details about the championship to the media persons on Monday.
