Assam University student tries to commit suicide

A student of Assam University tried committing suicide on Thursday reportedly because of frustration over issues related to his academic career.

The student identified as Shashanka Das is a Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) at the varsity. He had reportedly submitted a memorandum recently to the Cachar district administration informing about various issues at the university and said he would commit suicide.

Milon Das, one of the students of the university, confirmed about the submission of the memorandum and said the life of students pursuing vocational course is completely doomed because of the careless attitude of the varsity authorities. They (Shashanka and his batchmates) had taken admission in the vocational course around four years ago, but hardly any class or examination has taken place. As such, the future of the students is in darkness, he said.
